America's Concentration Camps

From reading this article it made me think about Germany and their concentration camps, sure the Americas did not put the Japanese through a camp where they can kill them at any time they want, but the Americans had the same idea of the Nazis. America forced a certain kind of race into a concentrated area because they felt threatened by the Japanese just as the Germans felt by the Jews. In the Article they explained that people in the camps had machine guns pointed to them at all times, the children did not go to school, and your only option as a japanese was you can join the army or you can stay in the camp. So these people who were born in the U.S are now not even considered a citizen because of their race.

America always finds a way to make it things they fight against okay when they do it. Such as having a certain raced locked up in a certain area is okay if they feel that there are japanese spies somewhere in America so they need to take pro cautions, and the only way is to start a concentration camp and but the Japanese in it. Reading this article made me angry because it made me think why are you considering of going into a war because you do not believe in what they are doing to the jews, but you can start your own concentration camps and do the same thing as the Nazis do to the jews besides the mass murdering part. Thinking about that made me think the America is a hypocrite they always try to stop everyone from doing something bad, but when America needs to do it its okay.

Life With Out Parol

Does LWOP for juveniles violate the 8th amendment?

The life with out parol is cruel and unusual punishment for some crimes  that a child commits. Kids should not be tried as adults because they do not have the same rights as an adult. America is the only country who has over 2,000 kids in jail who are in life with out parol, and it also a problem that just in 2005 america made a law that juveniles can not receive the death penalty. For the same crimes an adult or a person over the age 18 adults who have taken part in the same crime a child under 18 receive lower sentence and are released one day earlier. This proves that children are treated with no care and that america just gives up on them , but when these kids should at least have a chance, because you do not know what they have been through, or why they committed the crime they did.
In the documentary in class the girl put her trust in man she met, because her mom was a drug addict, but the girl did not know that later on he would rape her, turn her into a prostitute and abuse her. So one day the girl "stood up" for herself and killed her pimp, or otherwise know as G.G. This girl was sent to jail at the age of 16 with out parol. I do agree that she does deserve punishment, and she agreed to that to, but now this girl is 29 years old and she has learned her lesson, and also just from hearing her story she should have not be sentenced life with out parol plus for years because she killed a man who was selling and raping her and other young girls.
America really needs to realize that the kids they are putting into jail do things for a reason, these young kids have not matured and do not understand the morals of life and I think the court system should really check every single detail on these kids such as how they grew up, why the did what they did, was it peer pressure, was it for their safety and they just did not know any other way out. The courts need to check these things and make realistic punishments for different crimes, such as if some young kids went around killing any and everyone of course he should be sent to jail for life with out parol because he is a threat to society, but if some girl or boy robs a bank at gun point they should not be sent to jail for life with out parol they should just be sent to jail for a long time so they will be able to learn their lesson.
The whole reason for jail is to help these criminals realize what they did is wrong, and to teach them their lesson, and I think after 20 years of being in jail for robbing someone is enough because by then you should know what you have done is wrong.

White America

“White Supremacy:” The belief that white people are superior to (better than) black people and other people of color. Or a system in which white people have social and political dominance over black people and other people of color. America is still a white supremacist country from a recent interview this quote was said by a white man who is apart of a white supremacist group till this day. "We've largely been misunderstood as a hate movement, but we're all about love. We exist to love other members of our race. We're really not promoting violence at all. We're simply promoting an affirmation of our own people." From quotes like this it proves that white supremacy is still alive, we may not see it but there are still white people who believe that blacks and other races should not have any rights, or have any power at all. Just because we do have a black president does not prove anything because white people do not make up all of america immigrants do , and from the fact of having a black president does not mean that white supremacy is dead. The white man who made this quote is proving that white people like him are trying to make a better world for his own people (white) rather than all people.

Intership 16

My experience here at the hospital was amazing. I met a lot of nice people, I was able to see things that I would never see on a normal day, and I was able to learn something new everyday. While being here I learned that you need to be appreciative of your life, because you never know what will happen. Also I learned that you really need to take care of your self, such as eating healthy, exercises, and just being safe. I wish I could stay that's how much I enjoyed myself.

POL ANSWERS

How was your work as an intern meaningful to your education?

My work as an intern was very meaningful to my education. I have learned that school is a very important thing in life, even though sometimes I may not want to go or learn what I am being taught that what I learn now will be with me for the rest of life. If I want to follow in my desire of being a doctor I really need to get use to school because there are many years you need to complete in order to become a doctor. I have also learned that studying and reading is an important thing to do, because that is how you expand your vocabulary and your knowledge.

How was your work significant or meaningful to the world beyond school and your specific internship site?

My work here has been significant because I had a small part in helping the patient feel better. Even if I just went to get warm blankets, pillows, water, or just show them where the bathroom is, or just by smiling. I made a small impact in making them feel better and by just doing the small things people truly do remember.

What did you learn about your own work from your internship project?

From working at the hospital I have learned that people come in for problems they think are serious, in most cases they are, but from learning this I learned that when they come in you have to have humility and understanding and there are circumstances. First off you see the patient you introduce yourself to them and their family or friend, and you check with them to see what their problem is. After hearing their story and their complaints we help them to greatest ability we can. While being here in the emergency room I have seen and experience a lot. I have seen minor things such as someone fell and they just needed stitches or someone got something in their eye and needed their eyes cleaned. I have also seen more traumatic things such as a man losing his eye from surfing in his daily routine, patients who have diabetes and who don’t follow what they are suppose to do and are very close to death, and a man dying from cardiac arrest. From seeing these minor to tragic things you learn to have an appreciation and knowledge of that could have been me or a family member or a friend. It may sound selfish but it is the truth. When you are here you learn humility and appreciation for what you are doing to help these people. I may have just observed but just being able to know that the patient I have just seen will be okay is the greatest feeling of all time.

What new appreciations did you develop while working as an intern? Why?

I have learned to appreciate my life because you never know what can happen, a drunken driver can come and hit you from behind while you are just paying attention to what is in front of you. Form seeing these patients and just knowing that could have been you, you learn to live your life to fullest and to appreciate it and everyone in it.

What qualities or characteristics did you see in the people around you that you want to develop in yourself? Why?

While being here and being able to see the people around me and how they work I have notice that they come to work here because they love their job and the love helping people. They don’t work for the money and they don’t complain at all. The people here are very nice and just from seeing how they work in teams and they all get along it just made me feel like I was apart of the environment. From seeing these people characteristics I would like to develop would be their patients. Sometimes they do get patients who are hard to deal with and they never lose their temper and they are always polite and professional. I would like to develop this because I believe that it is a very import characteristic because it shows maturity.

How did your view of life beyond high school change or develop during your time as an intern?

I have learned to take care of yourself. Never do anything that will affect you later on in life, even if it just one smoke or one drink it will have an effect on you and if it does not effect you now it will effect you later on in life. I have seen so many people just in bad conditions because they did not take care of themselves. You need to learn how to eat right, exercise, and don’t follow others because that choice will lead you into the wrong direction.

What new questions has your internship inspired you to ask about our world? What has it made you wonder about? What are you moved to go out and do or learn about on your own time?

Being at my internship really has pushed me to be healthy because from seeing so many sick people it scares me that one day that can happen to me. So I try to eat healthy exercise to keep a healthy life. I really want to tell people that you are affected by what you put in your body from the McDonalds fries all the way to a shot you had. So I want people to know being healthy is a wonderful thing to be because in the long run it will save you a lot of trouble. My mentor told me the worse thing to be is old and fat because then your body will just shut don, because it is not healthy and from all the weight it makes it even harder for the body to work. So please stay healthy
